3 mobile phones to be pre-loaded with gambling links
Two million new 3 mobile phone handsets this year to feature pre-loaded link to mobile gambling services such as slots, poker and bingo.
Mobile operator, 3, has signed an deal with mobile gambling software developer Probability to pre-install a permanent link to its 'Ladyluck’s' mobile gambling service on over two million new handsets in the UK during 2008.
The link will be the only gambling services to automatically feature on these devices, as an icon in the games or applications menu. The first handsets to include the link are expected to reach customers by the end of June.
Customers who click the link on their phone will be connected directly to the Ladyluck’s mobile gaming platform via a 3G connection. They will then be able to register for and play games including bingo and slots.
Probability chief executive Charles Cohen said" “This is a tremendous deal for Probability.”
“The pre-installed link to Ladyluck’s on these devices gives us an excellent and exclusive opportunity to convert large numbers of new customers from a feature built into their phones," he added.
Opponents to gambling have criticised this new deal between 3 and Probability, arguing that it makes access to gambling too easy for vulnerable people.
